Bring the story in your own words
Make a short note about the concern that brought you to the visit. Include what you hope to understand and what you have already tried.
Gather the medicine and supplement names you want to discuss. Keep any records you want reviewed ready to share. Ask the service how to send them.
Know who is assessing you
Medical-board guidance says a remote service needs to tell you who is providing care and what they are qualified to do.
It also calls for the service to check where you are during the visit.
Ask to see the person’s licence details and an explanation of their training for the care being offered.
In September 2026, this guidance was advice for state boards, rather than a law for the whole country.
The legal duties of the person providing care depended on the state.
Ask for an explanation of a title you do not recognise. Use the licence page to find the board record for the person involved.
Ask what needs a closer look
Medical-board guidance requires your care provider to perform needed tests, arrange for them, or send you to someone able to do them.
It also calls for in-person follow-up when a further physical exam or procedure is needed.
Ask why a test is proposed, where it would happen, who reads it, and what it costs. Do the same for any further visit.
Ask it plainly
What information is still needed before we can settle the plan?
Finish with a plain summary
Ask the person providing your care to restate the aim of the plan, the next step, and how to ask for help between visits. Repeat back anything you are unsure about.
Keep the follow-up terms beside the cost breakdown. If there is no clear answer, leave it marked as an open question.
